Today I’m going to share my best career advice for young people and it’s reaaaaaalllly different than what you might hear from others.
I hope you do read this mail and I really hope you can advice me!
Till the time I graduated I was fixated on being Someone with a capital S! It’s quiet sad perhaps that I did not know what exactly I wanted to be in life. At that time, being just someone and something big seemed very important.
I graduated in 2014 and got hired for Deloitte US. The past 5 months I enjoyed like I never had! From being extremely introverted I changed to being some social. I got confidence and also, my job demands networking. It has all worked out perfectly well, until now.
I have realized that there is more to life than one little accomplishment. So obvious that is..
I know where I want to go. I will admit I am not an entrepreneur type, but I do want to expand my skill set. I believe I can be a good team leader. Not now, but someday. There is a lot I have to work on and I am ready to take those challenges.
I was hoping you could tell me few essential things that I should not miss while climbing up the ladder. How should I get the best out of my company.
I am not an extrovert so what are they ways of networking? Are they always about socializing with people on a personal level?? How do I learn most effectively and improve my value in the company..
I know these are a lot of questions. But please help me out. I really need your advice..
Thanks a lot for taking time in reading out this mail. It means a lot to me.
Thanks and Regards, Sneha”

Best advice: do not go to university and get an arts degree. Just don’t.

I don’t like the idea of being confined in a box thats why I’m an entrepreneur 🙂 The thought of working for someone else and not fulfilling my entrepreneurial goals makes me get pissed, for a lack of a better word.

I like your videos, they are down to earth, also no fancy music, graphics, things around, just you speaking, very good.

Man! I’m an introverted guy too! And you can’t imagine how many times I’ve struggled to meet people (girls when I was younger and single XP). But something that I’ve also learnt, specially in my lately years, is: to develop communication skills (networking with people) you have to be a communicator: this is, talk to people, meet them, start conversations of anything. Little by little, the fear of speaking will be less and you’ll learn how to overcome.
By the way, currently one of my biggest problems I’m facing is finding people to speak with; this is because I’m trying to improve my english communication skills. If you’re interested in joining the cause, you’re more than welcome! 🙂
However, thanks for this great vid you shared!

You articulated a vague notion I’ve been thinking on with a crucial clarity: develop a system to attract like-minded people and opportunity via capitalizing on it strengths. Another great video Carmichael!!

Thank you Evan for your great guidance to sneha, every single thing connects with what i experienced, I want to share my story here..sneha, like Evan said the most important thing is believe in yourself. I worked for US top corporation ,and i used to think the same way as you are thinking, but really coming out of the box is what helped me, So stop pleasing others, focus in being better version of urself. People will come to you for becoming a part of your network..BELIEVE, and keep going:)
